Privacy Policy — Layer Panel for Google Slides™

Overview

Layer Panel is a Google Slides™ add-on that provides a sidebar interface for managing slide elements. This policy explains what data the add-on accesses, how it is used, and how it is stored.

What Data We Access

Layer Panel accesses the following data from your Google Slides™ presentation:

• Page elements on the current slide: Element types, names, positions, dimensions, and z-order. This data is read to display the layer list in the sidebar.
• Selection state: Which elements are currently selected, and which slide is active. This is used to keep the sidebar in sync with the canvas.

Layer Panel does not access:

• Other files in your Google Drive
• Your Google account information (beyond what is required for authorization)
• Slide content from presentations other than the one currently open
• Speaker notes, comments, or revision history

How Data Is Used

All data accessed by Layer Panel is used exclusively to power the sidebar interface within your current editing session. Specifically:

• Element metadata (type, position, size) is displayed in the layer panel.
• Selection and slide state are polled to keep the panel synchronized with the canvas.
• Custom element names and hidden-element state are stored in the presentation’s document properties (see below).

Data Storage

Layer Panel stores a small amount of configuration data using Google Slides™’ built-in Document Properties:

• Custom element names: When you rename a layer, the custom name is saved as a document property within the presentation itself.
• Hidden element state: When you hide an element, its original position and dimensions are saved as a document property so it can be restored later.

This data:

• Lives inside the Google Slides™ document, not on any external server
• Is accessible only to users who have edit access to the presentation
• Is removed if the document is deleted
• Is not transmitted to any external service

External Services

Layer Panel does not transmit any data to external servers, third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. All processing happens locally between the Google Slides™ editor and the Apps Script runtime.

Permissions

Layer Panel requests two OAuth scopes:

Scope	Purpose
presentations.currentonly	Read and modify elements in the currently open presentation only
script.container.ui	Display the sidebar interface

These are the minimum permissions required for the add-on to function. The currentonly scope means Layer Panel cannot access any presentation other than the one you have open.

Data Retention

Layer Panel does not retain any data outside of the Google Slides™ document. When you close the sidebar or close the presentation, no session data persists. The only persistent data is the document properties described above, which remain part of the presentation file.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the add-on after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
